how I work
It’s the creative process of creating a home that interests me. A home that includes a stamp of the people who live there. and so I act as a doula turning houses into homes. Another way to describe the way I work would be as an aesthetic consultant, someone who creates spaces you want to return to. Each one unique. I believe good design adds meaning to the way we live and work.
Wholehearted wellbeing is at the core of my approach. There’s beauty to be found in humble, natural things especially those where you feel the hand of the maker. If your priority is wanting a comfortable, welcoming feel we think similarly.
For an environment to move you it must be cohesive, but also have an element of surprise. The origin of things plays an important role along with form and function.
Fuelled by the belief that each room has its own intrinsic character I work instinctively finding the harmony between the architecture, furniture, objects and art. Old becomes new again.
With an unwavering love for the worn, woven and grown I create eclectic mixes and am not afraid to add in some great modern design to spice things up. I’ve been told I’m known for my eclectic look, one that’s distinctly unique - there's a ‘that's so you’ thing about me. When working with you it’s not about me, but you. Together we find your sense of ‘you’.
I’m not interested in trends, believe good design endures and has a timelessness about it. Mixing old and new I’m a sounding board to help you choose a palette and source things. Together we arrive at a place you love made up of pieces that are a very personal mix.
The first step to any good relationship with longevity is understanding. I begin by listening to what it is you are wanting. The atmosphere you dream of surrounding yourself with. What you need and want. What you are prepared to let go of. And what stays and why.
Through a sharing of ideas, I interpret what moves and changes are needed. I help you create a home you are connected to in a way that has you feeling its where you’d rather be more than anywhere else in the world.
By encouraging you to expand your vision and explore ideas you might not otherwise have considered we move the boundaries. It’s a lot of fun.
I direct your vision and desires into thoughtful spaces, ones you become fond of and where you feel totally comfortable.
This doesn’t happen all at once but in a considered, gradual way as suggestions or special found objects find their way into your heart and home the layers build. They become your story.
Some changes might be big, others small. Most importantly it involves building a rapport and an understanding of how you want to live.
